Ontario’s fifth annual public sector energy management conference hosted by Peel Region will take place April 20-21 in Mississauga. Building on earlier years where strategic planning and changing mindsets were themes, this year’s focus is on implementation, primarily energy management.

Designed to foster the best practices that make today’s public agencies greener places to work and invest, Energy Matters 2009 will showcase how municipalities, school boards, universities and hospitals are measuring, analyzing and taking command of their energy consumption. This summit provides the essential knowledge and networking that benefit an organization’s bottom line.

Here is the main schedule so far:

Day One

  • Sustainability, Strategy and Corporate Competiveness
  • Climate Change, Emissions and the Cost of Carbon
  • Energy Markets, Outlook and the Price of Power

Day Two

  • Facility Management and Asset Preservation
  • Water Use and Waste Management
  • Building Materials, Architecture and Design
  • Green Energy and Efficient Technologies
